“We are under attack, and everything we stand for is threatened”

The weekend of the 6th and 7th of June 2020 saw unprecedented violence and thuggery on the streets of the nation’s capital and beyond. Spurred on by Labour MPs, gangs of far left and Black Lives Matter activists rioted, caused criminal damage, attacked police and vandalised statues and memorials.

For many, the sight of Winston Churchill’s statue being defaced and the Union flag being set alight on the cenotaph was just too much to bear. The people who wear masks and use violence and initimidation on our streets – ie the fascists – declared their direct opposition to the many who fought and defeated fascism.

If you are like us, and oppose fascism and the invasion by foreign oppressive dangerous ideologies, as Churchill did, then we call on you to do something about it.

Our patriots hate to see what is happening and some have decided to try and peacefully protect our precious heritage and clean up the damage and vandalism left behind by the mob. It is clear that the police have no intention of protecting us from this wanton destruction, and we have been warning of the rise of far left extremism for years, so this is no surprise. From the moment Labour-backed far left activists were allowed to shut down a parliamentary hustings in Lewisham, we knew that something was seriously wrong with the policing in this country. Even democracy wasn’t being upheld.

On the night that Churchill’s statue was attacked, BBC News, the national broadcaster, didn’t believe it even warranted a mention. The media coverage has been sickeningly biased as usual, showing that they are indeed the ‘enemy of the people’.

We will be there on Saturday 13th June as we clean up our capital and stand peacefully against the criminal mob. From the sound of it, many people intend doing the same. It is time to stand up for this country and honour the memory of Churchill and all he stood for.

In case you wondered why we chose the name “Monuments men and women”, in World War 2 they protected valuable artefacts from the fascists. In 2013 a film based on their story was released.

One final ask – we need to hire private security as we cannot rely on the police to ensure our safety. The mob has shown how willing it is to engage in violence. Can you please chip in a tenner (only if you can afford to) towards the cost? We only use the best, ex military security which comes at a premium price. Any additional money will be used on stab vests and additional home security – these are concerning times as the far left escalates.

“Police leadership has completely failed”

The situation over the weekend has gone from bad to worse. It is not going to get better any time soon. Last week we saw bobbies “taking the knee”, this weekend we saw a Chief Constable and at least one other senior officer making the same sign of submission. This is nothing short or disgraceful and, in my view, is every bit as despicable as overt racism. These senior officers should be sacked for gross misconduct.

Police Leadership has failed from the start. Apart from unnecessarily taking ownership of an American police problem as I mentioned in my previous blog, the Police Leadership has displayed an unsettling degree of incompetence. Cressida Dick’s statement that she did not want to risk serious disorder was effectively a message “If you can put a big enough mob together, the police will back down”. The police did not back down when they enforced the Covid restrictions against a free speech demonstration in Hyde Park three weeks ago. They arrested and fined several of the participants. But then of course they were white and smaller in number. Cressida Dick has repeatedly shown herself unsuited to senior command, but we must remember she was appointed by Theresa May, in her own image when she was Home Secretary. Both are weak, ineffective, naïve and appeasers.

The behaviour of the police officers on the ground in demonstrating support for the protesters was actually against the Metropolitan Police own code of ethics, but nevertheless apparently, they were given permission to do so. It is an interesting concept to have a code of ethics that can be suspended when it doesn’t fit a political narrative.

Impartiality of the police has been a cornerstone of our democracy and was once sacrosanct. I will tell a story I have mentioned before. As a young bobby in Liverpool in the 1960�?s one of my first jobs was to escort Orange Lodge marches through the city of Liverpool. Part of the briefing beforehand was that we must not march is step with the band in order to avoid being perceived as sharing their views. This was quite hard to do as the music was pretty lively. We had orange men amongst the police as well as good Catholic boys like me, but you would never have known. We valued our neutrality.

This requirement to be seen as impartial has gone, police now openly side with various lobby groups. They actively facilitated Extinction Rebellion to break the law and block roads. They are actively promoting Trans issues by working with groups like Stonewall and Mermaids. Yet they have ignored grooming gangs for fear of causing racial tension. The law is no longer implemented fairly.

One consequence of the failure of the Police across the country is that there is a risk of the public taking matters into their own hands and filling the vacuum left by police inaction. If that materialises, will the police remain impartial or continue to choose to support political activism which wants to dismantle our culture and structures?

As we in our party know, the police will actively try (and sometimes succeed) in stopping us holding meetings by threatening to revoke licenses of venues who would host us. I also believe that they have leaked some of our venues to the fascist left. The police choose who they will allow to exercise their right to freedom of speech and assembly. The Police are not fit for purpose and risk being replaced by citizens who care.
